Delicate parts, such as the metal trim pieces, require custom fabricated jigs to restore their factory dimensions.
During the process many pieces were polished or plated to their original finish. Here are the door latches.
The interior was removed and selectively restored to preserve it’s integrity. Original gages were rebuilt with original parts, refurbished on site. (the dash clock is shown)
All relevant parts were removed and assessed for refinishing. The whole car, including the doors, were stripped to bare metal.
The 300SL arrived in a great shade of silver that, while not original to this particular car, certainly looked good from 50 feet. Next steps will be assessment, dis-assembly, re-finishing, and re-assembly.
