This yellow monster is the result of a customer request for the ‘ultimate Dune Runner, with room for 6 plus!’
This yellow monster is the result of a customer request for the ‘ultimate sand dune truck, with room for 6 plus!’ What started life as a 1972, southern 3 door Suburban has come full circle into what you see here. Nothing was left untouched in the quest for this ‘ultimate’ vehicle, from simple little things like moving the washer bottle, to major things like lowering the floor 3” and cutting off the top. Custom touches abound as your eye’s attention is pulled from one unique detail to the next. Many thanks go to our friends at Bonefied Customs for the fabrication of the cage, raising the floor 3”, cutting off the the top and many other one-off touches that helped to make this truck what it is.
Every thing is coming together.
Nearly every aspect of this project was fabricated or custom-made to fit. The list is too long to put here, but the pictures say it all.
A Chevy 502ci crate motor with 450 hp and 550 ft-lbs of torque occupies the engine bay and does a great job of “motivating” the Dune Runner.
The seating consists of 8 Corbeau red racing seats.
The floor was lowered 3 inches to level it with the rest of the truck prior to seat installation. The interior was sprayed with an epoxy paint for durability and ease of maintenance.
Stripped, prepped, painted FLY (Ferrari Light Yellow).
The top comes off and a roll cage goes in and the floor is lowered 3” in the rear. Some of the many tasks handled by our friends at Bonefied Customs.
A nice 1972 Suburban 3-door, ready to start a new life as “Dune runner”.
