SOLD: 1960 Ford Thunderbird Convertible

1960 Thunderbird convertible, 76,129 miles, numbers matching, Raven Black - black and white interior, excellent condition, V8,
Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic.

This “Square Bird” was in solid, running condition when the current owner purchased it after 30 years of storage in Wayland Michigan. It was then sent to Classic Coachworks and Customs in the same town in 2004. The Thunderbird went through a thorough process of repainting, rebuilding, and selective restoration over four and a half years and almost $100,000 (receipts in hand).

The engine has been rebuilt including new pistons and reconditioned rods. The valve train was updated for use with current fuels. Stock compression ratio and cam completes the kept-to-original spec 352 cid V8, which was rebuilt with the focus of long-term reliability.  The engine bay has been restored and looks new. Receipts document the mechanical portion of the restoration at over $35k.

The car also underwent a thorough body disassembly, cleaning, stripping, and painting process to give it a gorgeous, fresh coat of Raven Black.  The interior, underbody, and suspension have been updated as needed.  Other trim items including the bumpers and interior pieces were polished, re-plated, or recovered at this time.  The convertible top is new and the complex working mechanism has been restored and updated.  Receipts document these updates and the painting process at over $50k.

In short, the end result is a very beautiful 1960 Thunderbird.  It is in very good condition and would make a great classic summer convertible for the whole family to enjoy.  This T-Bird can be purchased for much less than has been invested to bring it to its current, impressive condition.
