SOLD: 1964 Corvette Sting Ray 327/365

One of the early Sting Rays. Silver Blue over black interior. 4-speed. Restored, detailed records, and ownership history documentation.

A Michigan car since new, this Corvette is an early Sting Ray. Built in July of 1964, it came from the factory with a 327/365 motor, 4 speed manual transmission, and a Posi-rear end. It is finished in an excellent coat of original Silver Blue and came from the factory with a 490J Blue interior, later changed to black. From 1982 to 1988 the car underwent a complete restoration, including new frame and a new ‘CE’ donor engine block (retaining its original heads, intake, distributor, and aluminum valve covers) by a father and son team that treated the car as a labor of love. Careful cost documentation of every part purchased, a write up of the restoration, a period Corvette assembly manual, and other records (including Michigan Secretary of State Title history) all confirm the attention to detail levied on this early Sting Ray.

The odometer was reset to ‘0’ at the time that the car was restored. It has covered 24,767 miles since. Points of note: In January 1995 the car was refinished in its original color. In October of 2008, a major service was performed including rebuilding of the transmission, resealing the differential, brake parts replacement, points and condenser replacement, and the replacement of many additional wear items.

The current condition of the car is excellent, having been owned for the last 12 years by someone who has had the time and resources to ensure optimum operation and maintenance of this Sting Ray at all times. The interior is clean and complete, the exterior is in excellent condition, and the engine bay is clean and detailed. This is a beautiful example of an early Corvette Sting Ray with documentation and receipts for thousands of dollars spent to maintain the car regardless of cost. It starts, runs, and drives great. It would be a welcomed addition to any collection.
