SOLD: 1987 Austin “Carbodies” London Taxi Cab

Built in 1987 by London Taxi International in Coventry England, the Austin FX4 is the venerable taxi cab that has been plying the streets of London in this form since the 1950’s. Powered by a 2.5 liter Rover diesel 4 cylinder putting out 90 hp, the Carbobodies Taxi is a rugged, timeless design that operates efficiently and is fun to drive and be seen in. With room for up to 5 people in the rear and luggage stored with the driver, this right-hand-drive cab comes right from the streets of London.

Back in 1996 Master Card purchased this cab as part of a massive ad campaign during the Euro ‘96 Soccer Championships. It was then imported into and issued a title in New York by Master Card and used in the United States for print and television ads during 1997-99. The New York State title was issued on Feb 24, 1997 and is still with the vehicle. We purchased the car in 2000 and used it for family and dealer events and then placed into storage. It has come out of storage and been brought up to date service wise, ready for its new owner.

Condition: The odometer shows 73,788 mi. This may be actual miles, but we believe that the number is more like 173,788 or 273,788 based on condition. Mileage is exempt as vehicle is over 10 years old.
