1965 Corvette Sting Ray L79 327/350 (HT code), original colors, factory side pipes, documented ownership history from new, maintenance records, new lacquer paint.
This 1965 Corvette Sting Ray was sold new from Applegate Chevrolet in Flint, Michigan. It was delivered in Nassau Blue lacquer with matching blue interior. It still has the original, numbers-matching L79 - 327/350 HT code engine. It has had 7 documented owners from new and is unique in the fact that all owners of this Corvette are represented in the records. From minor tune-ups to painting and upgrades, each owner has contributed to the story of this car.
It was seasonally driven regularly by the first three owners until 1980. Owner number four replaced interior pieces (seat covers, door panels, and carpet), and repainted the car before adding a new clutch and rebuilding the heads. The late 80s saw the car owned only for one year (by the fifth owner, a husband and wife) who soon sold it to a friend, who would keep it almost 7 years. The sixth owners (another husband and wife) continued to take excellent care of the Sting Ray, spending time and money bringing the mechanicals up to date all the while documenting the records (past and then current) and enjoying the car. The seventh and current owners (father and son) purchased the car in the mid 1990s. Over the course of ownership they have had the original 327 engine totally rebuilt, have correctly repainted the car in the period lacquer single stage paint, installed period American Racing Torque-Thrust wheels, and have added a Richmond 5-speed manual transmission. The work and upgrades bring the car to a high level of reliability, refinement, and drivability.
The car has a beautiful coat of paint, runs beautifully, and drives very well. The Richmond 5-speed adds to the usability of the car making it more enjoyable both on the highway and around town. The Corvette has never been ‘frame-off’ or fully disassembled and still retains most of its original finish underneath. It has been stored in a climate controlled environment and only enjoyed on nice days.
