400 cu-in V8 w/ 4 barrel, 4-speed manual, Console/Bucket Seats, Hide away headlights
restored
Originally sold by Archers Motors Inc in Burlingame, Iowa, at a sticker price of $3,615.92.
This 1968 GTO 400/4-speed was restored over a ten-year period and has covered only 3,496 miles since completion. It was a clean, rust-free example when sourced out of Muncie, Indiana. The addition of a correct, donor ‘68 WT-code engine block—to replace a 455 V8 that was then in the car—has kept it in its as-delivered configuration of colors and options. A few upgrades added to the already well-equipped GTO include a hood tach, hi-torque starter, higher lift cam, factory HO headers, and rally wheels with redline tires. The restoration has been done tastefully and correctly to preserve the original look and feel of a factory-delivered GTO. It also has full Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) documentation.
The current condition of the car is excellent with only slight wear evident in the driver’s foot well and some finish peeling from the intake manifold. The nose of the car is free of cracks or warping. The dash has been restored by Just Dashes and is excellent. The interior trim pieces, surfaces, and coverings are in excellent condition as well. The gauges are in original, clean condition. The odometer shows 117,789 miles, believed to be correct. Receipts for the parts purchased, plated, or re-finished are included in the sale. The underside of the car shows well, only showing some evidence that it has covered 3,400 miles since the paint was applied. Overall, this is a very good, drivable classic that can be shown in club events with no excuses yet enjoyed on the road, as it should be. It is currently stored in a climate-controlled environment.
